Patient safety

Patient safety is a main focus in any quality-orientated health care system. Adverse events defined as unintended outcomes of medical care pose serious threats to patient safety. The German Coalition for Patient Safety presents new strategies to reduce adverse events. Many adverse events are the result of errors which originate in complex environments based on division of labour. Improvement of patient safety requires learning from errors. (more…)

The German Platform

The German Coalition for Patient Safety stands for continuous improvement of patient safety in Germany. Members of all health care professions, representatives of health care organisations, patient associations and other interested parties are joined in a common platform. Acting together in working groups, committees and on occasion in conventions they contribute to solutions on specific issues of patient safety. (more…)

Offers

The German Coalition for Patient Safety publishes work results and provides them to all health care providers free of charge. Experts deliberate on solutions and release recommendations for the implementation of safety strategies. Documents such as flyers and brochures are supporting material. Now available are recommendations about wrong-site surgery, the implementation of critical incident reporting systems (CIRS) and medication safety in hospitals. (more…)
